This is the annual Huerfano State Wildlife Area (HSWA) clearing. Trail Boss: Shawna Jarvis
Thursday, July 16, 2026 - Travel Day. Arrive at the Campground by night fall to set up your site but not before 2pm please.
The trail clearing will be on Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18. There is a big meadow with plenty of room for several rigs. A creek runs through the camping area with plenty of water for horses. There are two port-a-potties in the camping area. FRBCH will be serving dinner on Friday night, the 17th. We will have a Potluck on Saturday night for everyone to participate in bringing something “Mexican”. Trail Boss Shawna can provide more detail as you signup. If we haven’t had enough fun, after our hard work we hope to do a short pleasure ride on Sunday, July 19 before everyone leaves for home.
Rules for this event:
State Wildlife Areas require you have a valid hunting, fishing license or Colorado Habitat Stamp to be kept with you at all times.
Only certified hay is allowed at this location: hay, pellets or hay cubes
Halter and lead rope must be on your horse on the trail.
Rules for Dogs: Dogs are not allowed on trail on any day. Dogs must be leashed in camp and secured at your camp site - there may not be anyone remaining in campsite to watch your dog while we are out clearing. Dogs are not allowed in the food serving area.
Please keep your camp area clean and the way you found it - spread your manure.
